bgp.tools September 2024 Changelog

RDNS/FDNS Database Searching

Logged in users can now do full text search over the bgp.tools reverse DNS dataset by doing a regular search and using the tabs at the top, users that pay for bgp.tools can also do the same but for the forward DNS data set!

AS-SET Monitoring changes

Users that receive free service because of their hobby/personal AS status no longer have access to the AS-SET alert. This has been done in response to general bad behaviour around this feature set that I feel that bgp.tools has ultimately brought on.

The feature set was designed for a particular paying customer in mind, and is likely to be that useful for most hobby net users and bgp.tools providing it to personal networks appears to have allowed for it to be used to harass people. This is not something I want, so in interests of the wider internet ecosystem I’ve withdrawn this feature for these users.

Small stuff

  1. Split out the Private icons between the IEEE confidential “Private” and the Local Admin “Private”
  2. LLMNR packets are now detected on IXP LANs as bad broadcast traffic
  3. Fixed issues where sometimes rankings on ASN would not show up for peering ranks
  4. Fix issues with RIPE Atlas Probes not being detected on v4 sometimes
  5. Fixed various issues with the front page TCP MSS detection
  6. Reduce the noise out of some BGP Churn/Flapping detection
  7. More infrastructure work to ensure the longevity of the platform
