Welcome back to the change log, January 2025 was skipped over because nothing very user visible happened on the site in that period. However bug fixes and improvements are ramping backup!

IP transfer history

You can now view the transfer history of IP blocks and ASNs, Just look for the [Transfer History] button on Prefix and ASNs!

From that page, you can easily explore the history of a single asset, or a entities whole dealings!

Routable IXP LAN Detection

Sometimes internet exchanges LAN address blocks are routable. Most of the time this is not intended (however there are rare cases like INEX who have their IX space routable), to help with the easy identification of this failure modes bgp.tools will now show a warning triangle when a prefix is fully or partially in the global routable table.

New IXPs

bgp.tools is now accepting feed sessions on the following exchanges:

  • SONIX
  • EdgeIX - Brisbane
  • EdgeIX - Melbourne
  • EdgeIX - Perth
  • EdgeIX - Sydney

This brings bgp.tools AS212232 to 97 internet exchanges!

Small stuff

  1. Fixed Hilbert graphs not working for all IPv4 /11 CIDRs
  2. Hilbert graphs now work better for large prefixes
  3. Improve the “SEO Description” for inactive ASNs
  4. Various improvements to the automatic “short name” generator for propagation graphs
  5. Ensure that routers that share MACs between IX ports are correctly tagged when they emit bad packets Issue #130
  6. Improve handling of IXP BGP sessions when a peer is misbehaving
  7. Improve whois error detection when fetching whois from external servers
  8. JPNIC whois objects now have link highlighting
  9. Improve website behaviour for ASNs with very large customer cones
  10. A lot of infrastructure improvements
