bgp.tools December 2024 Changelog

You may notice there was not a changelog for November, this is because almost all of my time in October was consumed doing RONOG 9, NANOG 92, and RIPE 89. So not that much development work happened on the site in October to build a changelog out of.

Regardless, November has been busy! So lets go though (and enjoy) what has happened in November.

IXP Routes box on graph is now clickable

In May 2024 bgp.tools added the option to show IX Route Servers on the propergation charts. As of this November you can also now click the purple box to get a list of all of the routes from IX Route Servers for that prefix!

New IXPs

bgp.tools is now accepting feed sessions (and is connected to the route servers, other than NETNOD, that is still a work in progress) on the following exchanges:

  • Netnod Helsinki Green/Blue
  • Netnod Gothenburg
  • Netnod Sundsvall
  • BBIX Amsterdam
  • BBIX Chicago
  • BBIX Dallas
  • BBIX London
  • BBIX Singapore
  • BBIX Tokyo
  • BBIX US-West
  • Lillix
  • FranceIX
  • YXEIX

This brings bgp.tools AS212232 to 92 internet exchanges!

IRR Route Object Deletion alerts

Just like how you can be alerted to new IRR objects being made for your ASN, you can now be notified if they are deleted (either on purpose, or by mistake). This is useful for detecting incorrect automations or operator error in larger networks!

Small fixes/changes

  1. JPNICs whois servers are now used for more IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes
  2. Stop lookups for MAC addresses for ARP Sponges from timing out
  3. The NTTCOM IRR is now being synchronised again
  4. A handful of known Noction users now have different handling behavior
  5. mtr.sh now redirects to the bgp.tools super looking glass
  6. Very stale IX-F feeds no longer are considered for importing
  7. Prevent rare cases of “You are connecting from” API calls from being cached
  8. Fixed some whois RPSL parsing issues with semicolons
  9. “Top Route Server Next Hops” are now sorted by raw number, rather than percentage
  10. MPLS LDP packets are detected on IXPs now as part of the “bad packets” system
  11. New “Splunk” compatible webhook type
  12. New shortcut button to RDNS/FDNS search if a DNS lookup fails
