Extra alert information for the "Unauthorized (via RPKI ASPA) up/downstream" alert


This alert has generated when an upstream or downstream relationship related to your network is forbidden by RPKI ASPA.

In the case of this alert firing in a downstream scenario

This would indicate that you are either route leaking the network in question, or they otherwise do not wish for you to be carrying their routes.

In the case of this is a known customer of yours, you should consider removing their routes from your networks announcements.

In the case of this alert firing in an upstream scenario

This would indicate that you are experiencing a route leak, or alternatively that you have added a new upstream provider and forgot to update the RPKI ASPA list.

You should not ignore this alert as it is probably a sign of upcoming connectivity problems.

About RPKI ASPA

RPKI ASPA is a relatively new capability of the RPKI ecosystem that is currently being rolled out across the internet, the idea is that it should provide a better form of control over who is supposed to be providing connectivity to networks one of the main goals of this technology is to try and prevent as many route leaks as possible.
